holland - part two

this afternoon i was just getting comfortable after lunch and apple tart when i got the look form JPs dad. i could see that it was time again to work. i looked outside and the soft hail and snow was coming down. i thought – you got to be kidding me right. i got given jacket on jacket on jacket. gloves. scarf. woven cap and hat. an axe and a machete-like blade. we were on our way outside to go and tidy up the windbreaks that surround their property. seriously. in this weather i thought. but in actual fact it was great fun. working in close to zero conditions as the snow and soft hail kept coming down was a experience close to receiving grapes and making wine. working with earth and elements is just something out of this world. if you dont understand this then you are probably a lawyer or accountant. shame. we must have been outside for a good four hours. JP was out to visit one of his friends and arrived late for the gym session. we have cleared most of the windbreak by the time he arrived but his fresh and enthusiastic energy did give us the final injection we needed to finish the job at hand.
